Boulder Open Tennis a great spectator event
Bob Wells | Aug 17, 2009
Tennis fan, are you? What’s a local event featuring high-caliber tennis, destined to charm and thrill you in between watching Wimbledon and the US Open on TV? It’s the annual Babolat Boulder Open Tennis Tournament, held each summer at the Millennium Harvest House and really a wonderful spectator event. It runs a full week, with competitors of all levels. But the big events are the men’s and women’s finals held each year at 9:30 a.m. on the tourney’s final Sunday. Serious tennis people tend to watch for the date and mark it on their calendars.
This year’s climax event August 16 was even better than usual due to cool temperatures, a lovely fresh breeze, and very interesting matches. My photo and video don’t do it justice, but maybe they convey somewhat the feel and the excitement of this annual event.
